Lorenzo Ferrara: Photography

Panasonic FZ50, Flickr.com and Lulu.com

I sold my Minolta DiMage Z1 and I bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ50. So I did a major upgrade of my digital camera. The Panasonic is really nice, as the Minolta, it does not have exchangeable lenses, but has a beautiful 12x optical zoom Laica lens and optical image stabilization. That means that I will not suffer for abandoning the 10x optical zoom of the Minolta camera. Another major upgrade is that the FZ50 can shot photos at 10 megapixels, and I can save the photos as raw image files.

To bad it does not compress the row files, so each photo weights about 20 megabytes each. Returning to the FZ50 lens, it’s a 35 millimeters lens. That pushed me to buy an inexpensive Rowa Optics Wideangle Converter, which multiplies the 35 millimeters lens by 0.45. That gives me a 15.75 millimeters lens, but the result isn’t that great. I will talk about this Rowa converter a next time.

Since I bought a new digital camera, I also opened a personal account on Flickr.com, and some groups about my hometown, San Lorenzo Maggiore, a nearby town called San Lupo, and a group dedicated to the territory of the Sannio, which San Lorenzo Maggiore and San Lupo belong to. I also got an account on Lulu.com, where I sell some of the photos I like most.
